The crux of Cournot and Bertrand theory of industrial relationship is based on zero\nconjectural variation in output and Prices. The two theories assume that firms form constant\nexpectations about their rivals reaction during output and price competition. This study\nexamined the validity of zero conjectural variation hypotheses within the context of the\ncompetition in Nigerian sugar industry. Using a two-stage least square analogy and data of\nwholesale sugar prices between January 2007 and June 2014, the study examined the\ninterrelationships in the firms price and output competition. Evidence from the study showed\npositive conjectural variation among the sugar firms, suggesting that output and price of rival\nfirms varied with competition. The strong interdependency among the sugar firms suggests a\ncontinued long run competition and stable price in the industry....
At the factory level, the manufacturing system can be\n\ndescribed as a group of processes governed by complex\n\nweaves of engineering strategies and technologies. Deci?\n\nsion-making processes involve a lot of information, driven\n\nby managerial strategies, technological implications and\n\nlayout constraints. Many factors affect decisions, and their\n\ncombination must be carefully managed to determine the\n\nbest solutions to optimize performances. In this way,\n\nadvanced simulation tools could support the decisional\n\nprocess of many SMEs. The accessibility of these tools is\n\nlimited by knowledge, cost, data availability and develop?\n\nment time. These tools should be used to support strategic\n\ndecisions rather than specific situations.\n\nIn this paper, a novel approach is proposed that aims to\n\nfacilitate the simulation of manufacturing processes by fast\n\nmodelling and evaluation. The idea is to realize a model\n\nthat is able to be automatically adapted to the users specific\n\nneeds. The model must be characterized by a high degree\n\nof flexibility, configurability and adaptability in order to\n\nautomatically simulate multiple/heterogeneous industrial\n\nscenarios. In this way, even a SME can easily access a\n\ncomplex tool, perform thorough analyses and be supported\n\nin taking strategic decisions. The parametric DES model is part of a greater software\n\nplatform developed during COPERNICO EU funded\n\nproject....
This study sought to identify the extent of the presence of the motives of the contracting\ncompanies in Irbid city to rely on finance lease and knowledge of the most important\nadministrative, regulatory and financial components of this type of funding, and to identify the\nmost important obstacles -if it available- which restricts it.\nThe most important findings of this study is the existence of motives for contracting companies\nin Irbid city to resort to hire finance. Although the interest was relatively large, and there is a\nneed to pledged assets in an exaggerated manner. Also shows that these companies are\ncharacterized by regulatory and supervisory and financial viable to do a finance lease.\nThis study found that the most important obstacles facing the contracting companies it is the\nlack of sufficient financial to finance companies using the financial leasing system, and that\nmany of the assets used by contracting companies do not receive sufficient turnout by these\nfinancial companies.\nThis study recommended financial firms that practice financial leasing to study interest rates\nand try to be reduced, in addition to ease the strict in pledged assets process, particularly on the\nconstruction companies in Irbid city. Also it recommended the concerned authorities to\nencourage the formation and create more financial firms to finance by using financial leasing\nsystem. This study recommended to take advantage of elements, whether owned by the\nfinancial regulatory and supervisory to persuade financial firms that practice financial leasing\nfinanced within interest rate....
Corporate governance is a mechanism which arises due to conflict of interest arises within different stakeholders. Different stakeholders have different views, goals, as well as incomplete knowledge of each others preferences. The whole world has seen the corporate scandals of big companies like Enron, Tyco, WorldCom, Satyam, etc. These collapses have questioned the effectiveness of CG mechanism that is being carried out by organizations as a part of regulating their affairs and books of accounts. This particular article discusses in detail about the meaning and definition of corporate governance, examines the corporate governance practices in Bangladesh, investigates the corporate governance guidelines-2012, and performs a critical literature review on corporate governance structure and performance inside the non-financial Bangladesh firms....
This study applies the ââ?¬Å?true fixed effectsââ?¬Â panel stochastic frontier methodology to the Canadian KLEMS data set to estimate\ntechnical change and technical efficiency in the Canadian manufacturing sector. To account for the endogeneity of capital inputs\nas well as the possible problems related to omitted variables, a two-stage residual inclusion method is pursued. The first stage is\nestimated using the dynamic panelGMMmethod.Theresults showthatCanadianmanufacturing industries experienced significant\ndeclines in technical efficiencies during the last ten years. This suggests that the observed slowdown in TFP growth during the recent\npast is partly due to declining technical efficiency...
The aimof this paper is to present the realistic solution to the survival problem that SMEs have during the economic crisis. The role\nof SMEs is very important in the development of the regional and national economy of each country, particularly for small countries\nlike Greece. On the other hand, universities also play a significant role in the national economy, since they provide Know-How and\nimportant research in the SMEs.Nevertheless, due to their small size and financial weakness, especially on the grounds of economic\ncrisis, SMEs would not be able to cover on their own the cost of purchase of university research. The author of this working paper\nsuggests the collaboration of SMEs in the formof clusters so as to be able to self-fund and absorb university Know-How at the same\ntime....
Colour is an element that plays a very significant role in every aspect of our life. With the realization on the importance of colour, the exploration and research on colour have introduced colour theories that have been applied and adapted until to this day. Through literature review, the previous researcher, has done the research on the influence of colour on the logo of the Bumiputra Companies, with the emphasize on Malay, and his findings showed that blue is the top choice selected and the most dominant colour used on the logos by the Malay Companies and followed by red and green. Nevertheless, the research scope is only look at Malay Companies and the findings are limited. However this paper reports and discusses the findings of one thousand (1000) by local companies, particularly under the category of SME (small and medium enterprises). The findings show there is a difference between previous findings. Red is a most dominant colour used on logos by Malaysia SMEs Companies and subsequently blue and white colour. Recommendations for further research are also discussed in an effort to improve the quality of local brands internationally....
